But the former youth team star, who broke into the senior side towards the end of the last campaign, admits the desire to play regular first-team football may tempt him elsewhere.

O'Neill is keen to take up an invitation from boss Liam Watson to come back for pre-season training – where he will get a chance to stake a claim for a place in next season's team.

And the 18-year-old admitted he would be thrilled if he could help his hometown club achieve Watson's target of promotion to the Conference National.

But he is likely to face stiff competition for a starting role up front following the arrival of more experienced strikers Tony Gray, Andy Owens and Adam Farrell.

And with a number of clubs at Welsh Premier and Conference North level currently showing an interest in him, O'Neill is not yet completely sure where he will be playing next season.

He said: "Liam has given me the chance to showcase myself in pre-season. And Telford are one of the favourites for promotion and it would be great to be part of that."

But he added: "I have had contact from other clubs. There are two or three clubs looking at me. I would like to stay but I need to play first team football.

"I am not sure what I am doing yet."
