Kris Taylor's bravery honoured by league
Former Telford midfielder Kris Taylor has won the Skrill Conference North Player of the Month award – despite playing just one game.
Taylor was diagnosed with testicular cancer on the final day of last month, but gamely still played for Hednesford Town against Altrincham 24 hours later.
The 30-year-old from Cannock scored a cracking volley, too, on an emotional day at Keys Park in what was his only match action for February.
He has dropped out of the squad to begin his treatment and has undergone an operation, with his fighting spirit in playing on now recognised by the league.
League sponsors Skrill will also be donating £1,000 to the Everyman Appeal, funding their research into male cancers.
He tweeted: "Player of the month! I must of played bloody well against Alty, as it's the only game I've played. Can't think of another reason why.
"All jokes aside, great gesture from @skrill especially with their kind donation to @Everyman_Cancer."
Depending on his recovery, he's hoping to play again before the end of the season. The former Walsall player cost Manchester United £200,000 at age 14.
He spent last season playing for Telford in the Conference Premier, making 23 appearances before he was loaned out to Hednesford.
