Liam Watson: AFC Telford need a midfielder
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson has admitted his side need a new midfield leader following their 2-1 defeat at Dartford.
The Bucks chief had been missing three options in that department in injured Mike Grogan (back), suspended Godfrey Poku and Charlie Barnett (personal problems).
But he said that the team was currently in need of another midfield general after it clocked up its fourth defeat in just six games, having led at half-time on Saturday.
Asked if his squad was lacking one more quality addition, he said: "Yeah definitely, certainly in the middle of the pitch. I think we are crying out for a leader in there.
"A few of them are too quiet and one or two look as if they are a little bit in awe of the level. We don't do ourselves any favours.
"I am talking about the middle of midfield and we have got Godfrey suspended for another three matches, due to a lack of discipline.
"We have got to accept it as a team and a squad but we can't keep throwing away chances for three points.
"We are probably not going to have a better one than we did on Saturday."
He added the Bucks are always looking for new recruits but it was 'too early' to say whether there would be any new arrivals in the coming days.
Watson said: "It's too early to weigh things up at the minute. If the game had finished at half time you'd be talking about the team looking half way there. But we are always looking.
"I'd like to free up a little bit more space in my squad but it is one of them where you have got to move people out to bring people in and I haven't had any enquiries about any of ours."
Defeat leaves Telford second bottom of the Vanarama Conference after six games.
