A second-half penalty from former AFC Telford United star Sean Newton and a Ben Tomlinson strike sent the Bucks to a 11th defeat of the season at Lincoln.

The teams had trailed in level at the interval after a relatively even first-half, but two errors midway through the second stanza cost Liam Watson's side badly in the end.

The hosts had started strongly and Sean Clancy showed great timing to deny Delano Sam-Yorke a shooting chance, after the Imps forward raced into the box inside the opening 12 minutes.

Defenders Rod McDonald and Ryan Higgins then did well to clear off the line from early Lincoln corner-kicks.

And goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge showed agility to deny Tom Anderson's volley midway through the half.

Nat Brown should have, at least, hit the target for the hosts with an unmarked header from a corner-kick and then a low drive from the edge of the box though approaching the break.

At the other end, Mike Phenix went close with a header from Clancy's well-aimed cross on 43 minutes, which struck the side netting.

The Bucks enjoyed a purple patch early into the second-half, with Sam Smith and Phenix both drawing good saves from Nick Townsend inside the first five minutes.

Kristian Platt and Clancy also had decent chances to open the scoring, but the former's free-kick was superbly saved by Townsend and the latter's volley flew over from Ryan Higgins' long throw.

But Newton should have put the hosts in front, when he volleyed just wide from Arnaud Mendy's cross to the back post.

He made no mistake from the penalty spot on 63 minutes, though, after Phenix had been adjudged to have brought down Jon Nolan inside the box.

Clancy almost levelled straight away as the Bucks raced down the other end, but Townsend did superbly to deny his powerful effort from inside the box.

Hedge then produced an exceptional save to prevent Sam-Yorke doubling Lincoln's lead from Tomlinson's cut back.

But Tomlinson wrapped up the points on 76 minutes when he hammered home from the edge of the box, after Hedge had failed to claim Tom Miller's long throw.

Sam-Yorke should have made it 3-0 late on, but mis-directed his header and Higgins made an impressive goal line clearance as the hosts finished strongly.

Defeat leaves Telford rooted to the bottom of the Conference Premier table after 16 games.
