Andy Todd wants more happy memories
AFC Telford United midfield general Andy Todd is hoping to make more happy memories when the Bucks visit Woking tomorrow.
Todd enjoyed one of his career highlights at the Kingfield Stadium when he helped Accrington Stanley win an historic promotion back in 2006.
On that occasion Todd and his then-team mates won 1-0 to secure Stanley a return to the Football League after a 44-year absence.
Todd has enjoyed a number of other decent results at Woking's Surrey stomping ground and the 35-year-old Telford player-coach is eager for another happy return this time around.
He said: "The ground is quite a sentimental one for me because it is where I won the Conference title with Accrington.
"I can also remember playing there for the first time with Burton a year before and I went there with Mansfield and picked up points, and also last season with Tamworth we managed a good point."
But while the Kingfield Stadium is something of a happy hunting ground for Todd, he is under no illusions that history will mean nothing when the struggling Bucks arrive in town tomorrow sitting rock bottom of the division, eight points adrift of safety and bidding to snap a four game winless run.
Their opponents meanwhile, who are second in the table, will be hunting a fourth straight win having netted nine times during their three victories over Nuneaton, Southport and Altrincham.
Perhaps just as ominously they have only conceded twice in that time and will be meeting a Bucks side that, despite scoring 19 goals so far, have failed to net anything in their last two games.
Todd says he is under no illusions about the scale of the task facing him and his team mates.
He said: "Woking is a difficult place to go (and take points from) against a side that have started quickly and really hit the ground running this season.
"They have started better than they did last year. Somebody I know went to watch them early on, during the first two or three games of the season, and they said that they were a decent side.
"And their results so far this season are showing that, but everybody says that anybody can beat anybody in this league.
"We have had some really good performances in the last five matches and we have had some good performances against Barnet and Torquay this season, who were first and second at the time.
"So, knowing full well that they are up there, I think psychologically we will be right for it. We just need to regroup (after last weekend's defeat at Lincoln)."
In that game the Bucks shipped two soft goals in a disappointing second half which undid plenty of diligent work in a tight game.
Mike Phenix's tackle on Jon Nolan handed Sean Newton a penalty midway through the half and then Ben Tomlinson had an open goal after an error by goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge.
And the Bucks will know that they cannot afford to be so generous tomorrow against the Conference's second most prolific attack.
