Freddy Hall pleased with AFC Telford debut

AFC Telford United goalkeeper Freddy Hall has thanked his defence after enjoying a spectacular winning debut against Woking on Saturday.

Hall, who was snapped up as a free agent last week to help plug the Conference Premier's worst defence, was one of several stand-out performers in a shock 3-1 away win.

The Bermuda international, who replaced Jonathan Hedge at the weekend, had looked set for a baptism of fire against the league's second-placed side.

But he said: "We were very sound defensively for the entire game. We gave them a few glimpses here and there but overall I didn't really have too much to do.

"And it's praise for the team. They really worked hard and protected me well. It was a difficult game to come into but the entire team was up for it and it definitely showed.

"And it was nice coming into the team and being able to gel like that quickly."

Woking were also guilty of some wasteful shooting, none more so than 12-goal top scorer Scott Rendell.

But Hall was forced to show his skills on a number of occasions and his spectacular save from a Josh Payne free-kick drew plenty of praise from Bucks manager Liam Watson.

Regarding the save, the 29-year-old said: "I just reacted to it. That's my job and that is what the manager wants me to do so I am going to do it to the best of my abilities."

Hall is already well versed in the demands of English football having spent time at Northampton Town, Burton Albion, Chester and Oxford City.

But the experienced custodian has also honed his skills on the other side of the Atlantic.

He has played for Bermuda Hogges and Toronto FC, the latter under former Arsenal and England star Paul Mariner.

Hall said: "It's definitely a big opportunity for me to kick on in England. The set up at Telford is amazing and I am really enjoying it so far. Hopefully we can just keep on going."
