Liam Watson is sorry for AFC Telford display
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson has apologised for his team's 'shocking' display in Saturday's FA Cup draw at lowly Spennymoor Town.
The Bucks had been on the verge of elimination by a side sitting 52 places below them in the English football pyramid.
A 90th-minute header from Adam Farrell and a Mike Grogan volley five minutes into stoppage time then dramatically rescued the tie, which will go to a replay at the New Bucks Head tomorrow.
But Watson said: "We were extremely lucky. Because we won convincingly at Woking last weekend some of our players probably think they are better than what they are.
"It was a day where we had to roll our sleeves up, we had to graft and battle, and to be honest that was sadly missing up until we made some changes.
"The back five and the goalkeeper were diabolical. There was no-one taking any leadership and if you look at our centre-halves compared to theirs, they went and attacked and won everything.
"The amount of times ours were challenging each other. I can only apologise for that performance. Performance-wise, it was just shocking."
Watson was, though, pleased with the impact of his three substitutes Adam Farrell, Sean Cooke and Josh Hancock.
The latter made his competitive Bucks debut having returned from a two-month loan at Witton Albion.
The Bucks chief made three changes on the hour mark and switched formation, from 5-3-2 to 4-4-2.
And he was pleased with the impact the trio made, saying: "It was only Adam Farrell, Josh Hancock, and Sean Cooke coming on who were lively. "Adam has got a great header to make it 2-1, and that goal was all about the delivery from Cookie."
Meanwhile, Watson was non-committal regarding a potential loan move for Barnsley's Rhys Oates.
The Bucks had been linked with Oates following Mike Phenix's transfer in the opposite direction on Thursday.
