AFC Telford close in on assistant manager
Boss Steve Kittrick expects to end his long search for an assistant manager at AFC Telford United early next week.
The Bucks boss, who has been operating without an assistant since joining the club last December, is close to finding his man and is set for meetings in the coming days.
Former Birmingham City player Chris Holland is known to be in the running but Kittrick, in keeping with the rest of his outlook for the summer, is keen to remain patient.
"The person I want to speak to is currently away and will be back in the country at the weekend," he said.
"We should be having a meeting on Monday and hopefully things can be sorted.
"It will happen when it happens. I'm just being patient with it all because it could be a really good thing for the club.
"It is someone with experience. There is no point being hasty about these things. We don't start pre-season for another month so time is on our side."
A reunion with Holland, who was Kittrick's long-time assistant at Guiseley, has been rumoured since the former Blues midfielder watched the Bucks victory at Altrincham last month.
Kittrick was initially assisted by player coach Andy Todd after taking over from Liam Watson and then by goalkeeping coach Andy Pryce, after Todd left the club in February.
"Andy was a great help," added Kittrick. "But you need an assistant long-term, you need that bit of support.
"I know there has been a lot of talk about Chris since he was seen at the Altrincham game but he has a lot of commitments.
"Whoever comes in has to be someone I can trust and the people I have been speaking to are people I have known for a long time."
Kittrick was meeting with several players last night as he looks to begin building his squad for next season.
Supporters are now able to pre-order the Bucks new kit, designed by Under Armour.
The new home kit is designed on the one worn by the club during its historic FA Cup run in 1985, while the away strip is yellow and red and based on the one worn in the 1988 FA Trophy final.
Orders can be placed online via the club's website or by ringing the club office on 01952 640064.
