Reid: Gorman can be a star for AFC Telford

Izak Reid believes AFC Telford United can be the launchpad to finally realise fellow new-boy Johnny Gorman's potential.

Reid played on the opposite wing to the former Wolves prospect last season at Barrow.

And the 25-year-old believes Gorman, still only 22, can recapture the form that saw him win nine full caps for Northern Ireland and make a fleeting Premier League appearance for the Molineux men.

Reid said: "Johnny is a good player who just needs the minutes on the pitch that he didn't get at Barrow to show the form he's capable of.

"Telford fans will be seeing a player of really good ability and he can produce that here.

"For a while he was out on loan at different clubs so he found it difficult to get a run of games going, but he just needs to get settled and play regularly.

"I was with him at Barrow and saw what he can do. Hopefully, he can get in the team here and play.

"That's what he needs – a home to play his football and to feel wanted, which I'm sure he will be here."

Telford will find out when and where they are playing next season when the National League North season fixtures are released tomorrow at 1pm.

Meanwhile, Telford are mourning the loss of long-term supporter Rob Corbett from Dawley. The 63-year-old, a former Wellington Town player, died from a heart attack.

The club issued a statement, saying: "AFC Telford United are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of loyal supporter, Rob Corbett.

"Rob, along with his immediate and extended family, have followed the Bucks home and away over many seasons.

"Rob was also the chief organiser behind the successful Northern Soul events which helped make the club thousands of pounds."

Bucks managing director Lee Carter added: "Rob was among the most loyal supporters you could wish for."

Telford players will wear black armbands during their friendly against Walsall as a mark of respect.
