Josh Brizell to miss AFC Telford big kick-off

New AFC Telford right-back Josh Brizell will miss the start of the season after breaking his wrist.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury during a training session at the New Bucks Head on Saturday.

It comes as a significant blow to manager Steve Kittrick, who made Brizell one of his first summer signings when he acquired the full-back's services from Hyde at the beginning of last month.

Kittrick said: "Josh is going to be out for between six and eight weeks, it is a massive loss to us.

"It was a complete accident, he just overran the ball put his hand out and went over on it. It is just one of those things.

"He is going to hospital today for more tests and we should then get a clearer picture but he is definitely out for the start of the season."

Attack-minded Brizell would almost certainly have started in the right-back slot when they get their National League North campaign under way at Lowestoft Town on August 8 and it creates a poser for Kittrick, who may opt to use Mike Grogan as an emergency replacement.

The manager will meanwhile continue talks with former Liverpool academy graduate Craig Roddan tomorrow as he looks to finalise a deal for the midfielder.
