AFC Telford boss wants goals from Glover

AFC Telford United boss Steve Kittrick has called for new hitman Danny Glover to knuckle down and get back to what he is best at – scoring goals.

The former Port Vale striker, 25, has been revealed as the club's new centre-forward and has plenty of pedigree, scoring at many non-league levels from Nuneaton Town to Worcester City and Hednesford Town.

After leaving the Pitmen last year for Stockport County, Glover somewhat lost his way and Kittrick believes the Bucks move is a perfect opportunity for him to get his head back in the game.

Kittrick said: "Neil (Young, new County boss) has gone in there and didn't quite fancy him.

"Danny has been around scoring goals for a number of years now and maybe things have just got a bit away from him in the last 18 months.

"He's had a couple of moves that have maybe been for the wrong reasons and it is definitely time for him to get a move back to a club where he can focus on his football.

"I'm sure he can get back to scoring goals."

Glover is not the only fresh face at New Bucks Head, with midfielder Jack Roberts and young forward Niall Flint also signing.

Kittrick said: "We were able to get Jack's paperwork over the line, which is pleasing. There was a bit of bother with some clearance as he's been abroad recently, but he'll be a great addition to us.

"Similarly with Niall, he's only a very young lad but you saw when he came on in the Walsall game - he was putting himself about and getting into their lads.

"You learn a lot about players, particularly youngsters, when they're playing against professional players in front of nearly 1,000 people. It certainly tells you a lot.

"We were very good against Walsall. It was such a committed performance from the lads and we were a great unit. The togetherness really stood out."
