Mark Lees will give AFC Telford options
AFC Telford United boss Steve Kittrick is confident new signing Mark Lees will be able to provide cover in a number of positions in his new-look Bucks squad.
The 27-year-old, a central defender by trade, can fill-in at right-back, while also able to play in midfield in front of the back four.
Lees eases the pressure on Kittrick's search for new centre-halves – former Football League defender Pablo Mills, who was offered a deal last week, has instead chosen to sign for league rivals Brackley Town.
The New Bucks Head boss said on Lees: "Mark is a good, honest type of player. He is someone that you can rely on to be an eight or nine out of 10 player every week.
"He has played two or three seasons at this level and has exactly the sort of experience that I've been after. Mark is also a good player to have around the squad and in the dressing room.
"He is not a big brute. He is a footballer and I think that it is important to not just have defenders who can thump it and head it the furthest.
"His cover at full-back and in defensive midfield will be valuable and we will see where we need to strengthen now."
With Lees agreeing a deal and the Mills move dead in the water, Kittrick revealed there is still a chance that trialist Jack Deaman may become a Bucks player.
The 22-year-old, who would be joining on loan from Cheltenham Town, played for National League Premier side Dover over the weekend and may move south, but the door may still be open.
Kittrick said: "You have to acknowledge what the player and person wants. If he wants first-team football and to move there then that is totally fair.
"When he lets me know how he got on there, we can make a decision."
