Double blow for the kit-less AFC Telford

AFC Telford United have been dealt a further double blow - as boss Steve Kittrick confronted the absence of a new kit.

Kittrick will be without winger Johnny Gorman until Tuesday's trip to Tamworth, while striker Dave Hibbert is set to be out for two weeks.

Gorman is suffering from tight hamstrings. Hibbert lasted six minutes of Tuesday's 0-0 draw at home to Curzon Ashton before being forced off with a groin injury.

Kittrick said: "Dave isn't fit. We are told it should be a maximum of two weeks out but it's still a massive blow.

"But other people have to step up to the plate and I expect the younger lads to do that now.

"Getting somebody else is something we're thinking about but it's a question of whether we can get it over the line and we won't know until probably this morning.

"As for Johnny, we had a meeting on Thursday night with the medical team and Johnny and he felt he wasn't doing himself justice and was only 70-75 per cent fit in the second half.

"So he's going to rest it and he may be available for Tuesday."

Meanwhile, Kittrick has addressed the issue over the delay in having a new kit. Telford are still playing in last season's strip and haven't had a team photo.

He said: "The kit has been promised on several occasions and the fact it hasn't is a massive disappointment to the club.

"I'm sure when it comes it will be fantastic and there will be an explanation, but as far as I'm concerned the kit doesn't make a player.

"They could play in socks and boxer shorts for all I care - thankfully, I've got a good bunch of players who are proud to wear the shirt, old or new."

Josh Brizell is set to hit the comeback trail soon after breaking his wrist.

Kittrick said: "Josh gets his pot off on the 16th and he already told me he is playing on the Saturday. That's what you want to hear."

Midfielder Mike Grogan has had his knee scan delayed by the hospital to the middle of next week, after being forced off at Market Drayton Town 12 days ago.

Telford could get some money back for transfer-listed Jordan Goddard, who cost a fee but remains at the New Bucks Head while he tries to find a new club.

Kittrick said: "We've had a couple of bits of interest in him, but we'll have to see what's on the table. We told him we'd give it a week and that's where we're at now."
