Kettering 2 Telford 1 - Report and pictures
AFC Telford United suffered a painful early exit in the FA Cup as they went down 2-1 at lower-league Kettering Town.
Rob Smith's side, who play their league football one flight above their Evo-Stik Southern Premier hosts, had gone in 1-0 up at half time.
But two second-half goals from Courtney Baker-Richardson cancelled out Connor McCarthy's early opener for the Bucks.
Rob Smith's side made a solid start, with Sean Clancy and Izak Reid both causing problems in the opening 10 minutes.
Clancy flashed a 20 yard drive wide of the near post, before Reid's corner-kick was hacked off the line.
But home goalkeeper Enol Ordonez handed the Bucks an 11th minute lead, when he made a mess of Steve Kinniburgh's back-pass.
Danny Glover was quick to close down the dithering shotstopper and after he was upended, McCarthy slotted into the unguarded net.
Kettering took the blow well though and James Brighton's corner-kick forced a scrambled clearance off the line on 18 minutes.
nd Brett Solkhon then drilled straight at goalkeeper James Montgomery from close range, as the Poppies kept the pressure on.
But Telford continued to make most of the early running and Glover should have hit the target with a low drive which went just wide from the edge of the area on 23 minutes.
The Bucks lost winger Reid to injury on 33 minutes, boss Smith then opting to bring on Josh Brizzell in his place.
Baker-Richardson then struck the post as the home side sought an equaliser, with a deflected effort five minutes before the break.
AFC Telford United: Montgomery, Lees, Campion, Deaman, Tilt, McCone, Reid (Brizzell 33), Goddard, (Rowe 60) Clancy, Glover, McCarthy (Anderson 53).
Subs not used: Wilkinson, Gorman, Brownhill, Flint.
Kettering Town: Ordonez, Bryan, Kinniburgh, Solkhon, Mulligan, Gooding, Grocott, Brown (Sandy 78), Baker-Richardson (Thorne 83), Canavan (Langdon 78), Brighton.
It was a big let off for Telford although Sean Clancy went close to doubling the visitors' lead with a deflected effort of his own, which drifted just over.
Kettering finished the half strongly and Solkhon nodded just over from Brighton's free-kick in the final minute of normal time in the first half.
And Will Grocott went even closer with a superb curling effort which was destined for the top corner before Montgomery clawed it away in stoppage time.
But Kettering were level just four minutes after the break, when Baker-Richardson tapped home from Brighton's clever cutback.
It sent the home fans into understandable rapture and after McCarthy limped off injured, to be replaced by Kaiman Anderson, Kettering swiftly grabbed a winner.
Baker-Richardson pounced on Kinniburgh's cross to head home in the 59th minute to complete the fightback for the hosts.
Telford were rocked but they almost levelled 12 minutes remaining when substitute Ryan Rowe saw a back heel strike drift just wide.
Glover also forced a fine save from Ordonez with an acrobatic strike from 10 yards out and Anderson's header was well saved in stoppage time.
But the Bucks were unable to muster a response, as they fell victim to that classic football occurrence, the FA Cup upset.
