AFC Telford have signed former Manchester United forward John Cofie, in a deal subject to international clearance.

The Ghana-born 22-year-old, who is a free agent, has most recently been at National League side Wrexham, making two appearances without scoring.

Cofie enjoyed loan spells at Belgians Royal Antwerp, Sheffield United and Notts County during his time at Old Trafford, making 36 appearances and scoring six goals.

After his release from United, Cofie signed for Barnsley in July 2013, before joining Norwegian side Molde the following campaign.

He returned to England in January 2015 where he signed for Crawley Town, making one appearance.

Capped three times by England Under-17s in 2010, it's understood United paid £1million to take Cofie from Burnley as a 14-year-old.

He is available for tomorrow's trip to Gainsborough Trinity, after training with the club last night, and his arrival is timely with the Bucks struggling for forwards.

Dave Hibbert is sidelined with a hamstring injury and Richard Peniket's one-month loan from Halifax is up after tomorrow's game, leaving Ryan Rowe as the only other fit striker.
