Rob Smith sets a target for AFC Telford

Manager Rob Smith has urged AFC Telford United to bag maximum points this Easter to achieve his points target and banish their relegation fears.

Smith had challenged his players to reach 45 points as a marker to avoid relegation some weeks ago.

And after a remarkable turnaround which has brought four straight wins and 13 points out of the last 15, the Bucks could reach it with five games to spare.

In-form Telford host sixth-placed Tamworth on Saturday before travelling to National North relegation rivals Brackley Town on Monday.

And Smith wants them to hit their target sooner rather than later, saying: "I set us a target of 45 points, we've got six to get and I'd like to get them this weekend.

"If we can do that, we can really push on."

Telford have gained a third of their 39 points in the last five games and Smith believes the run has re-united the club and fanbase.

He said: "I'm really proud of the boys and the club has come together – the fans were singing our names on Saturday.

"So to turn it around like that, all credit to the players."
