AFC Telford were suffering hangover admits Josh Wilson
AFC Telford United forward Josh Wilson believes a hangover from the Bucks' survival success was inevitable.
Rob Smith's side secured a memorable great escape at the New Bucks Head on the penultimate weekend of the season, meaning a trip to Chorley in the final game meant little in terms of points.
A disjointed Telford side, not helped by three forced substitutes through injuries before the hour mark, looked to have sealed an impressive point but a hotly-disputed penalty two minutes from time won it for the hosts.
Wilson, who took the captain's armband in the absence of Jack Rea and Dave Hibbert, nodded in the Bucks' equaliser for his seventh goal of the season, drawing him level with Connor McCarthy as Telford's top scorer.
The 27-year-old said: "We had a good time last week, we got the job done. We had our target to survive and we did that so it was always going to be a bit of a hangover.
"But it wasn't too bad and I thought the lads did well."
The attacking midfielder only joined the club from AFC Fylde in February, netting from 30 yards on his full debut in the 5-5 draw at Stalybridge Celtic. But Wilson was sure of his best moment.
"I'd probably say (the) Worcester (game) was a highlight for the amount that mattered," he added.
"I've scored a couple of good goals, the one at Stalybridge comes to mind and a couple at Alfreton, but it'd have to be Worcester."
