AFC Telford lift Shropshire Youth Cup
AFC Telford United were celebrating after lifting the Shropshire FA Youth Challenge Cup with a 6-1 win at the expense of close rivals Allscott.
The game at Shrewsbury Town's Greenhous Meadow was well contested with the result never as easy as the scoreline suggests.
Telford keeper Mitchell Willdigg made a fine early save but was then responsible on eight minutes as Allscott took the lead.
He failed to take charge after coming off his line with Ryan Hadley lobbing the stranded keeper.
But Benjy Robinson swiftly levelled after a powerful Dan Frances header was helped into his path.
Tom Kenny and Jordan Bailey went close for Telford and Robinson had a strong penalty appeal turned down on the half-hour.
Kenny went close again early in the second half and from the resulting corner skipper Tom Edge saw his header well saved at the far post.
Half-time substitute Chad Corinaldi put Telford ahead, side-footing in Bailey's cross on 54 minutes after good work by Ben Osei.
Ten minutes later, Frances made it three by driving into the bottom corner from 18 yards.
Telford refused to take their foot off the pedal and Corinaldi got his second when he chased down a back-pass to roll the ball into the net.
Adam Griffiths scrambled the ball home from Bailey's long throw and the full-back volleyed in the sixth.
