Jack Rea: Bucks buzz will bring players

Telford captain Jack Rea insists the buzz around the Bucks will ensure they attract the right players.

The tenacious midfielder, who signed a new one-year deal with the club yesterday, has seen boss Rob Smith and assistant Larry Chambers bolster their ranks in the close season by snapping up James Hurst, Ben Bailey, Dan Preston and Lee Fowler.

Meanwhile, the likes of James Montgomery, Dwayne Samuels, Darren Campion, Lucas Dawson, Josh Wilson, Dave Hibbert and Zak Lilly have joined Rea in agreeing new deals at the New Bucks Head. And despite not having the biggest budget in Vanarama National League North, Rea believes the Bucks will always attract players due to the reputation of the club.

"We haven't got the biggest budget in terms of pay, but the pull for players is the ground, the pitch and the fans," the 24-year-old said.

"When you speak to Rob and Larry, the enthusiasm they've got is infectious because they get players to play for them.

"Look at James Hurst – he's played for Rob and Larry before and he wants to do so again.

"Then there's Josh Wilson. Josh played here last season and could have moved elsewhere for more money, but he's experienced the pull of Telford in terms of the club and the fans and he wanted to stay."

Rea was at the Bucks Head last night to sign a new one-year contract with the club.

Smith and Chambers had thought the ball winning midfield was going to reject a deal with the pair lining up Callum Gittings as his replacement.

Gittings may still be added to the ranks even with Rea's new deal and the school teacher says he will welcome him with open arms if he does arrive.

"I've played against Callum and he's a good player," Rae added.

"We need more players because we struggled for consistency in the middle of the park.

"But with Lucas, Lee Fowler signing, myself and possibly Callum signing, people will be fighting for places and even if Callum doesn't sign, I'm sure there will be someone else coming in."

Elsewhere, Salford City target Curtis Tilt has revealed he will make a decision on his future by the end of the week.

The defender was one of Telford's standout performers last season and has been offered new terms by the Bucks.
