Danny Reynolds to miss AFC Telford friendly
New AFC Telford United signing Danny Reynolds is set to miss tonight's friendly at Bridgnorth.
The former Wrexham youngster was forced off with a knock picked up netting the Bucks' third goal in the 3-0 win at AFC Wulfrunians on Tuesday night.
Manager Rob Smith expects him to be fit for the clash with Aston Villa at the New Bucks Head on Saturday, but will take no chances for the all-Shropshire game.
He said: "Danny will probably be alright for Saturday. We won't risk him (against AFC Bridgnorth) but it was a great little finish. You can see he has got something."
Reynolds was one of several substitutes who impressed at the Castlecroft Stadium. Lee Fowler, Jack Rea and Lucas Dawson all came on in midfield.
Dan Preston played alongside Gianluca Havern at centre-half in the second period and Dave Hibbert was given 45 minutes up front.
Also introduced were young talents Zac Lilly, Tom Edge and Ben Osei.
Lilly and Edge replaced Josh Wilson and Dwayne Samuels, with Osei getting a run-out in place of Reynolds.
Smith said: "I think it is probably the most possession I have seen us have really in my time here.
"It was a good workout, they worked hard and made it hard for us but we got a clean sheet, as well, which was pleasing.
"Sometimes those games are a bit difficult because you have so much of the ball, but it was a good workout for us."
In terms of the squad for tonight, Lilly, Edge and Osei will be given another chance to impress, with Smith having an eye on the Villa clash.
Smith added: "It is brilliant to see them getting game time. They will have more game time (against Bridgnorth) as well so I will have a real good look at them then.
"It will be mix and match, as we have got a big game on Saturday, but some first-teamers will still play so we will put as strong a side out as we can.
"The application has been superb since day one and it is so far so good, but there is a long way to go."
The game has been arranged through former Telford assistant boss John Psaras, who is now in charge at Bridgnorth.
He said: "It's great to be playing Telford here and we're grateful to Rob and Larry (Chambers) to bring a team to play us.
"Hopefully, we'll get a good gate with plenty of support for both sides."
