The Bucks claimed a point at the Tameside Stadium thanks to Danny Reynolds' second half strike.

Yet Smith was left livid at sluggish first half showing in which his team were second best and trailed thanks to Niall Cummins' opener.

"I would probably have taken a point before I came here but I just could not believe what I witnessed in the first half," he said.

"It was probably the most unacceptable performance since I have been here and believe me, we have had some bad ones.

"I just could not see that coming, the commitment level in the first half was disgraceful and I apologise to the supporters on behalf of the players for that.

"In the second half we turned it round a little bit and probably should have won the game in the end. Their keeper made some great saves in the end."

The introduction of Reynolds and Micah Evans at the break gave the Bucks a greater attacking purpose and Smith wants his players to show more consistency.

"It is down to attitude, the attitude of the players," he continued. "We turned up a bit lah-de-dah today and probably thought we were better than we were.

"From one to 11 we have put in a really lethargic display. We never got going. They were sharper than us and we deserved to be losing the game.

"If I could have made six changes at half-time I would have done. We made two and Danny and Micah changed the game really.

"I won't put up with that kind of performance at all. The one good thing is we have saved something from the game."
