Micah Evans wants double figures at Telford

Micah Evans has set himself an ambitious 10-goal target for AFC Telford.

The pacy winger has netted in each of the last two games to join Tom Peers at the top of the club scoring charts on the modest tally of two.

Evans was brought in during the summer as the Bucks' only natural winger to primarily create openings rather than score them.

But the former Blackburn reserve has proved a net hit and is confident there is plenty more to come from him in front of goal after his strikes against FC Halifax and Kidderminster Harriers.

"I'd be happy with 10 goals, that's my target," said the much-travelled 23-year-old, who lists Telford as the 11th club of his fledgling career, although six have been on loan.

"It's been a positive few days and I'm just trying to contribute as much as I can and whatever way I can and I know that (goalscoring) is a part of my game I need to improve on.

"I'm enjoying it here, I'm playing or coming on so I can't complain. The only downside was we weren't winning.

"But if we can get a few wins under our belt now then I think we're in for a good season."

Telford's management duo Rob Smith and Larry Chambers believe Evans has all the ingredients to succeed at pro level.

But for some reason it hasn't all come together for him yet and he needs to show more consistency.

Evans believes he has plenty more to show. "I'm getting stronger and fitter every game but I still feel there's loads more to come," he said.

"I can see a whole game out whereas now I'm showing my ability rather than it being in fits and starts.

"I think I can do a little bit more but it will come from regular games and building up my confidence even more."

Tuesday's 1-0 win against high-flying Harriers was only Telford's second win in nine games this season and it saw them climb three places to 12th in National League North.

Evans believes the victory was overdue and sets them up nicely for Saturday's trip to Gainsborough Trinity.

"It gives us a massive lift. It's been coming - we've been in games and not had that edge or bit of luck," he said. "But we dug deep and got the right result. Now we can push on."
