Josh Wilson hopes to be back next weekend for Telford

Injured striker Josh Wilson hopes to be back in action as soon as next weekend – and plans to start firing in the goals to help Telford climb the table.

Wilson was missing for today's FA Cup second qualifying round trip to Worcester City after picking up a hamstring injury last weekend. The 28-year-old travelled to cheer on his team-mates, saying he was 'gutted' to miss out.

But last year's joint-top goalscorer plans to be firing on all cylinders before long as he set his sights on notching 20 goals this season.

"I always have a target of 20 goals at the start of every season and that's achievable," he said. "It's all about the goals for me and the team winning.

"I haven't been playing in as an attacking a role as I'd like – I've had a chat with the gaffer and we see that moving forward I'll be in more of an attacking role."

Successive away defeats to Gloucester City and Gainsborough Trinity have left Telford down in 16th place after 11 games.

Wilson said of their recent results: "It's disappointing – we set ourselves higher standards."
