In a brief statement released on it website last night the club said it had suspended James Hurst pending an investigation into the events of the weekend of October 29 and 30.

It is believed to be related to comments made by the player on social networking site Twitter.

On Saturday the defender was embroiled in a spat with supporters following the side's loss to Salford City.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Bucks over the summer, was sent off in the game at the New Bucks Head for two bookable offences.

The former West Bromwich Albion defender was then engaged in an exchange with a number of supporters and wrote a series of posts.

Hurst wrote "I feel like a surgeon stacking shelfs in this league (sic)."

In another post to the same supporter, he wrote: "u paid to watch me today (sic)."

Hurst then went on to delete the tweets from his verified @hursty43 account but did post on Sunday: "Oh god what happened I can say some NAUGHTY things to trolls (sic)."
