Ramsbottom United 0 AFC Telford 2 - Report and pictures
[gallery] AFC Telford travelled to Ramsbottom with the expectation of qualifying for the first round proper of the FA Trophy, coming away 2-0 winners.
After a cagey opening 12 minutes Telford seized the initiative. Connor McCarthy showed nimble footwork down the right-hand side, before unleashing a fierce strike. Ramsbottom keeper Charlie Albinson pushed to safety.
Ramsbottom were looking to get the ball to Gareth Sedden at every opportunity. Kearns and Havern were marshalling the former Bury striker with consummate ease.
In the 27 th minute Jon Royle whipped a superb delivery, Dave Hibbert rose highest to power a header just wide.
The pendulum soon swung in Ramsbottom's favour. Firstly, Alex Meaney drove the ball goalwards, it took a nick off a Telford defender to go behind for a corner. It was a hearts in mouths moment for the Bucks, as the ball was nodded on to the bar.
Damien Green was proving to be a menace, he tried his luck from distance, with the ball whistling over the goal.
Telford finished the half the strongest, Connor McCarthy switched sides to try and bamboozle the opposition. He cut inside from the left, to fire an attempt goalwards; Albinson was on hand to block the shot.
Star of the BBC documentary Class of 92 Gareth Sedden, had the first chance of the second half. He nodded wide after a deep cross from Dean Stott.
With an hour gone, Hibbert met a Wilson free-kick, but the effort missed the target.
Telford broke the deadlock moments later. Connor McCarthy reacted quickest by prodding the ball home from a corner.
82 minutes were on the clock when Josh Wilson opened up his body, and cracked in a wonder shot from 25 yards.
That was enough to put the Bucks through to the next round.
