AFC Telford goalkeeper James Montgomery keeping focus amid transfer talk
James Montgomery insists his focus is solely on AFC Telford United amid interest from clubs in the Football League.
The Bucks shot-stopper, aged 22, is believed to have been watched by several full-time clubs after keeping eight clean sheets from 25 games in the National League North this season.
He is set to be involved as the Bucks head to Kidderminster Harriers tomorrow and said: "It's nice to hear there is interest but I know nothing – all I know is that I am a Telford player.
"I'd rather there be positive rumours than negative rumours, of course. But I am just focused on the game as whatever is going on in the background is out of my control."
It is thought the club have not yet received an offer for Montgomery, who earlier this season earned a call-up to the England C squad, but are braced for a potential bid by the end of the month.
He was in the sticks as Telford lost 4-0 to Harriers in the FA Trophy in early December, and said: "It will be a tough test as they are a very good team.
"Obviously we don't want a repeat of that result and hopefully we can go there and pick up three points.
"You have games like that, where you don't really do anything wrong but concede four goals.
"You have to take it on the chin, and move on to the next one.
"We are upbeat going into the game. We are still in a dogfight but the gap between us and the bottom three is a little bigger now.
"It's a big game for us and I've got to focus on that, not worry about anything else that's going on."
While Montgomery has attracted attention for his fine displays this term, he reserved praise for the defenders in front of him.
"Competition is always healthy as it pushes people on. In that position, there's a lot of fighting going on for places," he added.
"The defence has been strong and that has been the case all season, so hopefully we can keep some more clean sheets."
Meanwhile, former Telford defender Curtis Tilt has reportedly been the subject of a bid from League Two club Blackpool.
The centre-half left the Bucks last summer for Wrexham and has impressed for them in the National League.
