Rob Smith's AFC Telford rant justified, former boss Bernard McNally
AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith came out with some very strong words after their 3-0 loss at Boston United – and I think he had to, it is fair comment.
He feels some of the players are cheating the club and, although the Bucks have struggled financially, they are paid fairly well.
Rob has every right to come out and say that, he expects a lot more from them and the fans do as well.
They need to find an identity by bringing in the right players, and Rob will be happy to get this season over and done with.
It is a case of rebuilding in the summer and starting again. Telford fans want good, attractive football and that competitive edge as well – the two go hand in hand.
They are calling out for a leader, a Mr Telford of sorts. Going back, Duane Courtney was a great central defender who did really well.
Sean Parrish – players like that, blended in with youth, is what they need. Then, of course, you need somebody who is on fire up top.
We had Alfie Carter for a short while too. Those are the figures you need because Telford should be looking ahead in National League North, not over their shoulders.
