Elliott Durrell, Ant Dwyer and Will Marsh - three of seven on-trial players who featured in this friendly fixture at Wellington Amateurs' School Grove ground - and Matt Barnes-Homer got the goals for the Bucks.

Former Wolves man Edwards, aged 34, who took over as boss just last week following the sacking of Rob Smith and Larry Chambers, fielded two very different lineups for each half.

The club's longest-serving player Jack Rea and fellow midfielder Jon Royle were two of the more familiar faces to start the affair, alongside the likes of Jordan Evans and Joe Nuttall - both on trial.

Telford, as expected, were the better of the two sides - more fluent in their play - and went ahead inside 22 minutes.

Nuttall, a product of Manchester City's academy, had an effort from a tight angle saved, and Durrell, who used to play for the Bucks and spent last season at Chester City, swept the ball in on the rebound.

Edwards' charges dominated the rest of the first period, but failed to double their advantage before the break when 10 changes were made - goalkeeper Jaz Singh being the only one to stay on, while Bucks trialist Sheridan Martinez played in goal for Haughmond.

Telford got their second shortly after the interval through forward Dwyer, who neatly tucked the ball into the corner.

Barnes-Homer's thunderbolt from 30 yards made it 3-0 inside 55 minutes, before midfielder Marsh completed the scoring from close range.

Edwards, who stood on the touchline throughout, would have been pleased with what he saw from the existing squad and the group of trialists, which also included young defender Aaron Hayden.

Next up in the pre-season schedule for Telford is a clash with Aston Villa, where Edwards made his debut as a professional footballer, at the New Bucks Head on Wednesday (7.30pm).
