Rob Edwards deeply frustrated after narrow Telford loss
Boss Rob Edwards has expressed his frustration after AFC Telford United's 1-0 loss at Curzon Ashton.
The Bucks dominated for large spells at the Tameside Stadium but were undone by a Niall Cummins strike in the 48th minute.
It was their third loss on the spin in National League North, although a decent performance.
Midfielder Jordan Lussey and striker Marcus Dinanga, whose arrival on a season-long youth loan from Burton Albion was announced a few hours before the game, stood out.
"I am obviously very disappointed. I thought we dominated the game," said Edwards.
"Ultimately, it has come down to them making less mistakes than we did.
"These games, on a Monday and a Tuesday, that's what it comes down to a lot.
"They defended their box better than we did in the end."
Cummins tapped home from close range for the hosts after a cut-back from the left hand side.
It was one-way traffic after that, with Telford dominating possession and having substitute Curtis Strong forced a good save from Curzon shot-stopper Cameron Mason late on.
On the home side's winner, Edwards said: "It was good build-up play, from their perspective.
"They'll be pleased with it - they overloaded us on one side, and then caught us napping on the other side.
"We got split. It was a cut-back and we didn't defend it good enough, It's frustrating because these are things that we have spoken about a lot.
"It comes down to fine margins and it comes down to both boxes. Curzon had more cutting edge in the end because they got the goal and we didn't."
The loss comes fresh off a 2-0 loss at home to Salford City on Saturday. They were beaten 3-1 by Brackley Town before that, and won 1-0 at York City on the opening day.
Next up is a trip to Blackwell Meadows to face Darlington on Saturday.
Summing up the Curzon defeat, Edwards added: "We worked very, very hard again. I thought our possession was better and we created a lot more.
"No one wants to lose. The fans will be frustrated, and I feel exactly the same.
"It rests on my shoulders - three defeats in a row. The players can take no blame because their work rate was frightening and they dominated the game."
