Pacy forward Marcus Dinanga became Edwards' seventh signing since the Bucks chief's June appointment but, following two victories from their opening five league games, he is still looking to bolster his squad.

Telford's squad is currently 20 players strong, excluding Zak Lilly out on at Rushall Olympic, but the boss – who is adjusting to working within a transfer window that remains open through the majority of the season – is still assessing options.

"We're not where we want to be," said Edwards, whose side sit 14th in the early standings.

"I like the lads and they've given everything but we're always looking to improve. I was extremely frustrated at times against Darlington because we can be extremely better and could've won by much more.

"I have to keep pushing. I don't think any manager is ever fully happy with what they have. Manchester City have spent £300million and they won't be fully happy."

Having added Burton loanee Dinanga – who grabbed the winner at Darlington – to Matthew Barnes-Homer in the forward ranks, Edwards remained coy when asked what positions he looked to strengthen in.

He added: "I know where we can improve. I'm more than happy with the forward options but we can always improve and be better.

"Any successful team has spirit. Togetherness comes with spending time, winning and losing together. It gets built. it doesn't just come, we have to create it."
