AFC Telford goalkeeper Jas Singh looking for a home run

The Bucks have registered two wins from their first five National League North games – both away, and both 1-0, at York City on the opening day and Darlington last weekend.

They are yet to be victorious at the New Bucks Head this season, though, and have a chance to rectify that as they host Bradford Park Avenue tomorrow.

Singh – signed from Gloucester City this summer – insists he is loving life at Telford and is keen to repay the fans for the warm reception they have given him and the rest of the new-look squad.

“It has been brilliant, to be fair,” he said.

“As a team, we would like to get a few more results at home as the fans have been brilliant – not just to me, but to all of the lads.

“Hopefully, we can get a win tomorrow and start off some good form at home.

“That would make it back-to-back wins and then maybe we can go on a bit of a run.”

Singh, aged 27, is well-versed in the rigours of non-league having also played for the likes of Kidderminster Harriers and Solihull Moors in the past.

A former Shrewsbury Town youngster, he has come up against Avenue a few times before.

“I think tomorrow will be a harder game than last Saturday at Darlington as we haven’t started off great at home,” said Singh.

“As a young squad, these are the games, at home, we really need to get up for and stamp our authority on.”

Singh has been ever-present for the Bucks so far this term but has competition for the no.1 jersey in the form of Sheridan Martinez, who has been an unused substitute for all five games.

Working under Rob Edwards, he insists there is a good mood in the camp and added: “The mood is pretty positive.

“Once we beat York, we were as high as a kite but we soon had a reality check – this league is not plain sailing.

“The manager has spoke a lot about togetherness and that is there to see.

“We want to set standards and try to achieve goals.

“It’s about getting the performances right and if they are, results will come.”
