AFC Telford keen to extend Connor Johnson loan after ban
AFC TELFORD are looking to extend the loan of Connor Johnson after the defender was slapped with an additional two-match ban.
The Molineux youngster, who is halfway through a one-month Bucks loan, featured for his parent club in a Checkatrade Trophy fixture last season while ineligible.
Johnson, 19, now misses three games for Rob Edwards’ side instead of the one for his sending off during Telford’s 5-1 reversal against Harrogate last weekend.
His absence – should Telford avoid any FA Cup replays – would take the Wolves Under-23 skipper Johnson beyond his October 5 return date, but Edwards is keen to keep the centre-half around.
Johnson has made three appearances for Edwards’ side.
“We will extend Connor’s loan to December 5,” said the Telford chief, whose side are in FA Cup action against Barwell today.
“It’s not officially complete but all parties are happy to agree.
“I think he’s been excellent. He’ll have been disappointed with the two yellow cards against Harrogate but it’s a learning curve for him.
“We got a clean sheet against Nuneaton and he was very good in the win against Stockport – he’s been involved in six points.”
Edwards was made aware of the Wolves administrative error three days ago but accepts the ‘misunderstanding’.
He added: “It’s unfortunate to lose him for three games but we’ll concentrate on the ones that are available.”
