Rob Edwards pleased with AFC Telford following FA Cup victory
AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards has praised his players for getting the job done and advancing in the FA Cup with a 2-0 home win against Barwell.
Jordan Gough and Jordan Murphy got the goals in front of 541 fans at the New Bucks Head to seal a spot in Monday's third qualifying round draw.
The visitors from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier - a step below National League North side Telford - were robust and Edwards, although getting the victory was his main concern, has urged his charges to learn from the encounter.
"I am obviously pleased to have won the game and be in the draw for the next round," he said.
"That was the most important thing, getting through, so credit to the players as they have done that.
"It wasn't perfect. There is elements we need to work on and improve on so let's not get carried away."
Gough's goal, coming after some fine play in the 15th minute, was his first for the Bucks while Murphy has managed two in three appearances - all as a substitute.
Barwell had a couple of good opportunities, including a Tom Bates one-on-one which was saved by Jas Singh.
Edwards added: "The main thing was the win. We created chances, could have punished them a little bit more but we gifted them one chance in particular where we should have been better.
"If we are limiting teams to one or two chances, it is not too bad.
"The important thing was to get into the next round so happy days."
