The Bucks go to Chorley tomorrow in search of a third straight win in all competitions, with Barnes-Homer, who has recovered from a hamstring strain, fighting for a place in Rob Edwards’ frontline.

The Telford chief is blessed with options as Marcus Dinanga, Anthony Dwyer and Jordan Murphy have all been among the goals so far this season.

Experienced former Kidderminster man Barnes-Homer said: “At the beginning of the season there were not many options for us up front.

“Now we’ve got more options and they’re all different too. we all bring something different to the team and that’s what you need if you’re pushing for the play-offs.”

Barnes-Homer, who netted his only goal on the opening day at York, added: “The lads are young, energetic and hungry. We want to see each other score – we are pushing each other. The spirit is fantastic and there’s a real togetherness, I like that.”

Dinanga and Dwyer both have four goals this season, while latest recruit Murphy has scored twice in his opening three appearances, all as a substitute.

Burton loanee Dinanga, 20, top scored for Matlock with 34 goals last season and has set a similarly lofty goal target this time around.

He has forged a potent partnership with Dwyer, who is the same age, as the well-travelled attacker finally looks to have settled at the New Bucks Head.

“Marcus scored a lot of goals last season,” said Barnes-Homer. “He’s a good finisher and is quick and sharp.

“He works hard to get himself in the box. He’s one of those poachers.

“Anthony started out wide but now he’s got himself in up front and they have a good partnership. He’s done really well.

“We always speak about the competition in training and about pushing each other. It’s a nice thing to have. We all want to do well and that’s the main thing.”

Barnes-Homer is back in training and is enjoying the boost of full-time training under ex-Wolves coach Edwards.

The powerful frontman believes Telford are beginning to reap the benefits of meeting four times per-week to train.

“He (Edwards) gets his message across about how he wants to play,” added Barnes-Homer. “He’s a really good coach and we’re starting to benefit from the full-time training now.”
