Rob Edwards feels AFC Telford are making progress
Rob Edwards feels AFC Telford United are heading in the right direction, stating: "We know we can win the games, it's just getting that consistency."
The Bucks have won three of their last five games in all competitions.
Having progressed to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup, they return to National League North action on Saturday – this year's Non-League Day – as they host Boston United.
They beat Stafford Rangers 4-1 in a cup replay at home on Tuesday, and Edwards said: "I was really pleased with parts of the play on Tuesday night.
"To have 12 lads at training on Monday, we worked on stuff and then filmed it, got clips, and sent it out to the other lads – so the whole squad had seen it.
"To see some of that put into practice, it was really pleasing.
"That's not just for yesterday, that has built up since the beginning of pre-season.
"Of course, things take time – loads of teams are in the same position as us with new management and new players coming in.
"Everyone is a work in progress, you are never fully there, but we played some really good football and had a threat in the box as well which was great."
Telford were able to name seven substitutes for the Rangers clash – made up of a goalkeeper, a defender, three midfielders and two strikers.
One of those, forward Jordan Murphy, came on to score the fourth.
Edwards, who admits he is always on the lookout for fresh faces, is happy to have strength in depth.
"It's good, although we are always looking to improve. Ryan Wilson comes back now and that makes us look strong.
"I am pleased with how it is going now. We know we can win the games, it's just getting that consistency."
While Wilson returns on Saturday, centre-half Aaron Hayden will start his three-match suspension after being sent off at Rangers this past weekend.
Edwards has Hayden's fellow Wolves loanee Connor Johnson back after his own three-game ban and was impressed with his showing on Tuesday night.
The boss added: "He's a very good footballer. He's calm, assured, makes good decisions and I was really pleased with him."
