Chance of AFC Telford's trip to Blyth Spartans going ahead more positive
The chance of AFC Telford United’s trip to Blyth Spartans going ahead have been given a boost after snow cleared overnight in the North East.
The Croft Park pitch has been left waterlogged and club staff are working to drain the excess water off.
A Spartans spokesman told the Shropshire Star ‘as long as the sun comes out and stays out for a while, we might just have a game on our hands’.
If Saturday’s FA Trophy tie is called off though, it would be the third game in a row not to go ahead for Telford.
It would be rearranged for during the week, meaning they would have to play four games in less than two weeks over Christmas and into the new year.
Their last game was a 4-2 victory against Droylsden in the FA Trophy, at the New Bucks Head on Saturday, November 25
Meanwhile, Rob Edwards’ side managed to secure a spot to train at last night.
They usually train on Tuesday nights at Lilleshall Sports Centre, but were able to get together for a session under the lights at Wolves’ Compton Park training complex.
Also, volunteers were helping to clear snow off the New Bucks Head pitch this morning.
The group were also removing frost covers off the surface, starting at 10.30am.
