Will Marsh back at AFC Telford but unlikely to figure
Will Marsh is back at AFC Telford United after a disappointing loan spell at Stourbridge, boss Rob Edwards has revealed.
The former Liverpool midfielder was sent down a division – to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier – to get some more minutes under his belt for the Glassboys.
He only managed a few appearances as a substitute for them though and, having come on in the FA Trophy for Gary Hackett’s side, is ineligible for the Bucks’ first-round tie at Blyth Spartans on Saturday.
When asked if Marsh got enough game time, Edwards said: “No he didn’t.
“He didn’t get loads of minutes – the minutes that he was looking for.
“I’m not pointing blame at anyone. It is just disappointing that it didn’t work out for Will there.”
Marsh signed for Telford after impressing on trial during pre-season.
While at Liverpool, he had an unsuccessful loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday.
After his release from the Merseyside club, the No.10 played for Chester.
Marsh has played five times for Telford – the last of those when he came off the bench as the Bucks lost to Blyth on September 2.
“It was clear that Will needed to go and play some football,” said Edwards.
“He’ll be working hard in training, like everyone else, but it’s going to be hard for him get back in as he has not played enough games.”
Telford would be open to sending Marsh out on loan again, with the hope he will get more game time than he did at Stourbridge.
Another player Edwards has admitted he would be willing to let go on a temporary basis is Louis McGrory.
The 20-year-old has not played for the Bucks since coming on for the last quarter of an hour against Southport on October 28.
McGrory is formerly of Forest Green Rovers and had a spell on trial at League Two side Newport County during the summer.
The Exiles were thought to be interested in signing him, but were unable to complete a deal, and Telford then swooped in at the end of August.
On those two being sent out, and whether there will be any fresh faces coming in, Edwards added: “We won’t be making any signings before the weekend, there’s nothing happening there.
“Players going out, there’s nothing I am aware of at the moment but I’m not ruling anything out. “If something comes up for one or two that’s the right fit, then we’ll look at it.”
