Salford 3 AFC Telford 0 - Report and pictures

A Ryan Leak own goal, a cool Jack Redshaw finish and a late Michael Nottingham strike saw toothless AFC Telford United lose 3-0 at Salford City.

The Bucks were wasteful in the final third at the table-toppers and have now gone three National League North games without scoring.

Rob Edwards' side are now just one place - and one point - above the relegation zone.

Analysis

Two players made their Telford debuts. Goalkeeper Ryan Schofield - signed on loan from Huddersfield Town during the week - started, with Jas Singh dropping to the bench for the first time this season.

Centre-half Leak - on loan from Wolves - was also in from the off. The pair were hardly tested during the first half, in which there was not a lot of quality to speak of.

Salford's Ibou Touray hit the crossbar with an attempted cross and Jack Redshaw volleyed high and wide. The Bucks' only effort on target was a tame one, from Marcus Dinanga.

Having gone into the game five points clear at the top, the Ammies were expected to dominate possession and play with an air of confidence.

Perhaps they would so in the second period.

Just after the restart came for the first booking of the game - Michael Nottingham going in the referee's book for a deliberate handball.

Telford did nothing with the resulting free-kick, though, continuing to show very little as an attacking force.

The Ammies started to pick things up, with Redshaw's curling shot sailing a few inches past the post.

And a spell of good pressure saw them break the deadlock just after the hour mark - Leak putting the ball into his own net.

The Bucks had a huge chance to level, but Dinanga smashed the ball into the top of the stand.

Redshaw then, almost instantly, showed the Burton Albion loanee how it is done as he rounded Schofield and slotted home to double Salford's advantage.

Nottingham, from a few yards out, made it 3-0 in second half added-on time. Poor from Telford.

Key Moments

17 - Salford's Ibou Touray sprints down the left flank and his attempted cross smacks the bar.

53 - Great effort from the hosts. Jack Redshaw's curling strike from 25 yards out goes just wide.

61 - Goal! Salford 1-0 Telford. It is an own goal, on debut, from Ryan Leak. Josh Askew's low ball across the face of goal ends up with Leak, trying to block, putting it past Ryan Schofield.

71 - Big chance for Bucks top scorer Marcus Dinanga. One-on-one, he smashes the ball into the top of the stand.

72 - Goal! Right up the other end, it is 2-0 to Salford. Redshaw beats the offside trap and dribbles past Schofield to slot the ball into an empty net.

90 - Goal! Michael Nottingham makes it 3-0 to the home side, tapping home from close range.
