AFC Telford on the hunt for a centre-half
AFC Telford United are hoping to tie up a deal for a centre-half.
Bucks boss Rob Edwards has been busy trying to make improvements to the squad since their 5-3 loss to York City two weeks ago.
And an experienced defender is on his wish-list as Telford aim to get out of the National League North drop zone.
They are currently second from bottom – three points from safety.
“We’re working on a lot of things,” said Edwards, who was a defender and played for the likes of Villa, Wolves and Shrewsbury.
“We’re hopeful that we can get one or two things done.
“There’s a few areas that we are focusing on.
“We are looking to strengthen the squad and strengthen the starting line-up.”
The need for a defender was raised by supporters at a fans’ forum on Thursday.
Telford recently signed Ryan Leak on loan from Wolves but he struggled in his first two games and was an unused substitute as the Bucks lost 2-1 at Harrogate Town on Saturday.
When asked if one will be coming in and why it has taken so long to address the issue, chairman Andy Pryce said: “Go and find one, that’s not on a contract, for the right money.
“We know it’s a problem and we’re trying to address it.”
