AFC Telford boss Rob Edwards full of respect for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake
AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards has the utmost respect for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake following the tough decision to release the striker.
Edwards has made the call to let the former Wolves and Shrewsbury Town man leave to balance the books.
The Bucks made a couple of signings last week – bringing in goalkeeper Ben Wilson and striker Amari Morgan-Smith – and hope to make a couple more soon as they look to move out of the National League North drop zone.
“I went to see Sylvan, to speak to him and explain the decision,” said Edwards.
“I have a lot of respect for him. We played together for a bit at Wolves.
"He’s a very good man and a very good footballer.”
Ebanks-Blake, 31, had a five-year spell at Wolves, scoring 64 goals.
After his departure from Molineux in 2013, the former Manchester United youngster played for Ipswich Town, Preston North End, Chesterfield and Shrewsbury – before joining Telford in November as a free agent.
He scored four goals in seven games for the Bucks.
Meanwhile, Telford have made an enquiry for Chester man Kingsley James.
He has played 30 times for the National League side this season.
It is believed there was a stumbling block over financially-troubled Chester wanting a fee for the midfielder, though.
And Edwards admits a deal for the 25-year-old is unlikely.
“He’s someone we have enquired about,” he said.
“We have enquired about a lot of players over the last week or so, looking to improve the squad.
“We’re not expecting anything to happen with that one, though.”
