The 32-year-old arrives at the New Bucks Head with a wealth of experience.

Capable of playing anywhere in defence, he has played for Kidderminster Harriers, Newport County and Icelandic outfit Keflavik – and is the younger brother of former Bucks man Marcus.

“Obviously I’m delighted,” said Bignot on joining shortly after leaving Barrow.

“It all happened pretty quickly and I’m glad to be settled somewhere for the rest of the season.

“Telford’s position is not great and I’m coming in ready to fight. I’m experienced, I’ve played in a lot of different leagues.

“My aim is to use that experience to my advantage, to help the team.”

Telford are currently third bottom in National League North, four points from safety.

Bignot was set to make his debut at Spennymoor Town last night, but the game was called off due to the Brewery Field pitch being waterlogged.

“I keep my eyes on all the teams in and around the Midlands and see how they’re doing so I know about the club,” said Bignot.

“I’ve spoke to (Telford boss) Rob (Edwards) previously and he’s always come across really well.

“My brother has always spoke really highly of the club as well and he really enjoyed his time here.

“I didn’t need anyone to make my mind up for me, though.

“I’m just looking forward to getting started.”

Supporters had long been calling for an experienced centre-half to be signed.

Bignot has played as a right-back for the majority of his career, but is also comfortable at the heart of the backline – and even in midfield.

He made 11 starts for National League side Barrow this term and has also had spells at Blackpool, Plymouth Argyle and Grimsby Town.

“To be fair, I’ve played everywhere – right-back, centre-back, left-back and holding midfield,” added Bignot.

“I’m just coming in to play where the manager sees fit.

“I’ve trained with the lads and I’m looking forward to getting to know them better.

“There are some sharp players here from what I’ve seen.

“We’ve got to take that on to the pitch and, from now until the end of the season, make sure we get the wins that are needed.

“It doesn’t matter how, we just need to get the wins.”
