Rob Edwards to give AFC Telford fringe players a run-out
AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards intends to give several fringe players a run-out in tonight’s Huddersfield Cup semi-final showdown with Market Drayton Town.
The Bucks head to the north of the county to take on Town, who play two levels below the visitors in the Evo-Stik South Division.
And while staying in National League North remains very much the priority for Edwards, the boss intends to use the tie to his advantage by giving game time to those players who most need it.
“It will be the first-team squad which travels to the game and we intend to put a strong team out,” he said.
“There will be some players who do not need the game as much. My focus will be on those players who perhaps haven’t been involved as much as they would have liked.
“It is a good chance for them to build match fitness. Obviously, we also want to win the game. That will be our main focus above everything else.”
The winners of tonight’s tie will face either Shawbury United or TNS in the final.
