Their 3-2 victory over Gainsborough Trinity at the New Bucks Head sealed National League North safety, while confirming the drop for the visitors.

When asked if congratulations are in order, Edwards said: "I suppose it is now, with the way the season has gone.

"Things, at one point, were looking half decent and then we had a tough period, we really did. Games were called off and, obviously, we did not pick up enough points when we did play.

"We found ourselves in the bottom three and it's been a real challenge. There has been some dark times, for all of us.

"There has been difficult periods so it's great to be able to enjoy days like this - with the sun out, having won another entertaining game.

"I think everyone is sort of with it now, seeing it's not all doom and gloom.

"Of course we want to win more games. We all want to do better and be higher up the league - nobody wants to be in a relegation battle."

Trinity are dropping out of the division along with Tamworth and North Ferriby United.

Marcus Dinanga, at the double, and Shane Sutton got the goals for Telford after Ashley Worsfold struck twice for the away side.

"It's great to be heading into the final week of the season able to relax and breathe a little bit, now we know where we're going to be," added Edwards.

"The run we've been on recently is really pleasing and we want to finish strongly.

"Congratulations to the players for doing it. We rolled the dice and went for it and it paid off."
