Bernard McNally column: Big shock to see Rob Edwards leave Bucks

It was a massive shock to see Rob Edwards leave AFC Telford after everything that was supposedly in place.

Rob Edwards departed AFC Telford United after the end of the National League North season

For Rob it’s probably a career move for himself. I think he’s made the right decision for himself, in all honesty.

We can only assume that he’s got himself a move somewhere else or he’s thought he doesn’t want to carry on at the New Bucks Head, that the way things are going were not for him.

I’m pleased for Rob that he kept the team up. That’s something he’ll be pleased about. He can say that in his first managerial job he did not get his team relegated – that’s something you don’t want on your CV.

He seems like he’s got the right personality to progress in his own management career.

As for the Bucks, they desperately need some stability and knowledge of the National League North. When I was manager I learned that recruitment is absolutely vital. Whoever comes in needs to know who’s in charge and to have real clarity on the budget and targets.
