Gavin Cowan pleased with positive Telford performance
Boss Gavin Cowan has vowed to keep his feet on the ground after AFC Telford United's 3-1 pre-season win against Wrexham.
The Bucks put in an assured performance against the Dragons, who play one tier above them, in the National League.
Daniel Udoh struck twice and skipper Shane Sutton netted the other as Cowan got one over fellow former Telford defender Sam Ricketts. Mike Fondop scored for the Dragons.
"It was positive for us in terms of finding out where we are," said Cowan, whose charges start the National League North season at home against Southport on August 4.
"I think that was a very strong Wrexham team, I don't think there was many not playing for them, so it was a really good test for us and we came out of it really well.
"I think Sam will do a brilliant job with them, they'll be very strong next season, so it's even better for us.
"The reality is that it's a process - we didn't get too down when we lost to Barwell in midweek, and we won't get too excited about beating a huge, fantastic club like Wrexham.
"It's another part of the process, getting to August 4. I won't be getting too excited, even though it was a brilliant day, brilliant performance and brilliant result.
"Obviously there's still a lot for us to work on but it's nice to see where we're at, properly.
"We just have to make sure, on that footballing rollercoaster, we keep a low profile, work hard."
