AFC Telford's Andre Brown will soon hit a purple patch, says Gavin Cowan

AFC Telford United chief Gavin Cowan is convinced striker Andre Brown is on the brink of a scoring spree.

Twenty-two-year-old Brown has impressed with his pace and power up top for the Bucks.

He has netted just twice, 10 games into the season, but Cowan has backed him to become one of the most prolific goal-getters in National League North.

"I thought Andre was magnificent," he said, when asked about Brown's performance in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Stockport County.

"It's just not falling for him at the moment. He had a couple of chances in the first half.

"I thought he was excellent. All I asked from him was belief, conviction and courage – and that is what he gave me.

"I can't knock him. Goals will come for Andre. He's an absolute handful.

"He knows himself – everything is there and it's going to come for him.

"When it does come, the rest of the league better watch out."

Brown has gone with three games without a goal.

His last came at Leamington – a 2-2 draw in which he also had a penalty saved.

"At Leamington, he scored and then missed a penalty," said Cowan.

"If he hadn't have missed the penalty, I think we'd be talking about him being on late single figures now.

"What he does, he just runs people into the ground – and it leaves other players able to do their jobs in other areas.

"That's the luxury we've got at this football club. We've got players with that desire and that mentality."

Brown was signed in the summer from league rivals Kidderminster Harriers.

He was released by Crewe Alexandra – where he played alongside Telford strike partner Daniel Udoh – a couple of years ago and has also had spells at Worcester City and Rushall Olympic.

Cowan has also praised fellow Bucks forward – and former Harriers man – Matthew Barnes-Homer.

The 32-year-old has not scored yet this term but he did come off the bench to set up Henry Cowans' last-gasp equaliser against Stockport.

"I highlighted him in the changing room. I can't praise him enough," added Cowan.

"He's come on and been absolutely superb."

Meanwhile, Amari Morgan-Smith, who completes the quartet of strikers on Telford's books, is thought to be recovering well from a knee injury.

He will be assessed this week, to decide whether he can be involved in Saturday's FA Cup clash against Bedford Town.
