The Bucks went behind in the first half, but dominated the game throughout with chance after chance going astray in the second period.

But they dug in, and drew level through Daryl Knights, before Steph Morley planted a free kick into the top corner two minutes in to injury time.

Cowan said his players had come out fighting after an under par performance at Curzon Ashton last time out, and got their rewards for their efforts today.

He said: "I'm proud of the lads after last week, because the performance last week was not what they are about.

"It has been disappointing to reflect on that this week, but when the players and staff are up against it they come out fighting.

"We talked in the week and said we can't do it for them when they cross that white line.

"I am pleased they got their rewards today, they worked hard, chased and if you do that you'll get your rewards."

Despite going 1-0 down, Telford continued to dominate with chance after chance.

Daniel Udoh was denied before Jon Royle headed against the upright, but the breakthrough was made 17 minutes from time

Cowan believes it is all down to the players 'trusting the process'.

He added: "We have a saying with the players that you have to trust the process, and they did.

"If they fail, you go and go again.

"Last week wasn't an issue with ability, it was because they didn't want to work.

"Today we dominated the game. At half time we said keep working and we can't as anymore."

He also praised his side for two top quality goals.

The Bucks boss added: "Knights should have got a goal before he scored and we have had numerous chances, we just need to concentrate a bit more.

"When we got the free kick I turned to the bench and said Steph has the quality to put this in the top corner, and it goes and does it."
