AFC Telford's Ellis Deeney: Something special is happening at New Bucks Head
Ellis Deeney believes something special is happening at AFC Telford after they booked a place in the last 16 of the FA Trophy.
The midfielder was part of the side that knocked out National League side Hartlepool 2-1 on Saturday.
And Deeney, younger brother of Premier League striker Troy, insists the Bucks players are enjoying the ride as they eagerly await today’s draw.
“We believe in ourselves and when we play like that we’ve got a good thing going in this dressing room,” said Deeney.
“We work hard, we’re together. Everyone gets on with everybody but if anyone messes up they are pulled up on it.
“We wanted to press high and let our quality come through and it did.
“Towards the end they had us on the back foot but we felt more than comfortable throughout the game.
“Theo (Streete) won it last year with Brackley, although I don’t think he played in the final (he was an unused substitute).
“The gaffer himself has been there and done it and those that have done it are helping those lads that haven’t.
“It’s a new experience for some of us so you’ve got to enjoy the ride and enjoy the experience.
“But when we click and apply ourselves like we did on Saturday, we are a very good team.”
