Daniel Udoh hoping for red-hot AFC Telford atmosphere

The high-flying Bucks are aiming to make it five league victories on the trot against a Kidderminster Harriers side making the relatively short journey to Shropshire.

Harriers, meanwhile, are aiming to halt a three-match losing run which resulted in Neil MacFarlane being sacked and them slipping out of the play-off places.

“Hopefully, there’s going to be a decent crowd,” said Udoh, who is Telford’s top scorer having chipped in with 17 across all competitions.

“It’s a derby, isn’t it? We’re all looking forward to it.”

Fourth-placed Telford drew 0-0 with Harriers in the reverse fixture in August.

It was a not a classic, as the lack of goals suggests, but Udoh knows full well that the visitors will provide a tough test.

That being said, he insists, as always, the focus is on applying themselves correctly rather than worrying about the opposition.

“The last game we played against them was a tough game,” said Udoh.

“We know they’re a good team who like to pass it around, but we can’t be looking too much into that.

“We’re doing well and we just have to make sure we apply ourselves right.”

The Bucks are going into the encounter full of confidence after upsetting Hartlepool in the FA Trophy last weekend, winning 2-1 at Victoria Park.

Automatic promotion through winning the title – being eight points behind table-toppers Chorley – would be an ambitious aim, holding onto a play-off berth is an entirely realistic target.

“It’s just about keeping up the momentum and seeing where that can take us,” added Udoh.

“We know there’s a lot of hard work to carry on with, and we’ll give it our all every single game to pick up the points we need to stay up there.”

Udoh is expected to start up front, having scored at Hartlepool.

Amari Morgan-Smith got the other last weekend so will be hoping he is given the other spot up top, over marquee signing Marcus Dinanga and former Harriers forward Andre Brown.

James McQuilkin, who joined Telford from Harriers last summer, could start in midfield after being rested last weekend.

Likely to be leading the line for the away side is Joe Ironside, who has just got back from a loan spell at fellow National North outfit York City.

He scored in their 2-1 defeat to Boston United last weekend, and has highlighted the importance of cutting out individual errors which have cost Harriers so dearly over the past couple of months.

“I just want to be playing and scoring goals,” said Ironside.

“If that helps the team, that’s the main thing. The main thing is we get three points, if it’s me or whoever else scoring the goals.

“The main thing is the game and coming away with a positive result as we need to start climbing that table again.

“We need to put a run together as it’s the crunch time of the season.

“Hopefully, we can cut out the errors and start pushing in the right direction.”
