AFC Telford's Jud Ellis hailed for desire to succeed

Boss Gavin Cowan has hailed 'excellent trainer' Jud Ellis for forcing his way into AFC Telford United contention – and urged him to continue working hard.

Ellis is yet to play in league for the Bucks after signing from Market Drayton Town last summer, but did make the squad for last week's win at Bradford Park Avenue.

The central midfielder also started the recent Shropshire Senior Cup final loss to Shrewsbury, and Cowan could give him a chance to impress as Telford aim to secure a play-off spot in National League North.

"He's an excellent trainer and fits into the way we play," said Cowan.

"And if there is ever a time to see if he's going to be a National League North player, it's now.

"The only thing with Jud is he needs to know what it is to be a footballer in this league.

"It's not a kickabout. It means so much to so many people. But ability-wise, he's more than ready."

Ellis impressed during a loan spell at Hednesford Town in the Northern Premier – a step below the Bucks – earlier this season.

"We speak a lot about people being ready to step up if they're offered a chance and Jud is a great, really down-to-earth lad," added Cowan.

"Jud just wants to play football, but at this level, you've got to earn the right."
